Keyboard virtuoso Eric Gunnison has performed with numerous great artists including many years with Carmen McRae and The Dizzy Gillespie All Stars. Eric is universally hailed as one of the greatest multi-genre keyboardists in the world. Here is his bio in his own words:
Growing up in Buffalo NY, I was always surrounded by music. My mom was an opera singer and my dad a big band drummer. One day I'd hear Bizet's Carmen and the next day it would be Gene Krupa with Benny Goodman. Then one day I heard Blood Sweat & Tears and Chicago followed soon thereafter by Maynard Ferguson and Buddy Rich and I was hooked. It
seemed inevitable that music was going to be my life. I ended up at Berklee College of Music and have never looked back.
In my career I've been very fortunate to have played with many great musicians all over the world. When Steve Wiest asked me be part of Vinyl Hampdin, I knew it was going to be top notch and that was confirmed when we did the recording. A stellar horn section, cooking rhythm section, Lisa's amazing vocals, and Steve's modern reimagining of the Chicago - BS&T model was a dream come true for me.
I look forward to many more projects with this band as well as some new excursions with my trio and some duo and solo settings. As always, I'm happy to be playing music and hopefullybringing some joy and hope to our listeners.
